Indigenous phonemes

16h Belo Horizonte, Brazil / 20h Lisbon

online

Sing "a", and then "e" the way the Indians do: what colours do you imagine? What forests do you see? Gustavito, fascinated by his experience of traveling to Amazonia and sharing the rituals of the Huni Kuin people, weaves indigenous phonemes into what is known as Brazilian music, with all its layers of Arabic, African and European sounds.

Religions, spiritual practices, art and poetry are different ways of creating meaning, and Gustavito embraces all these human inventions in his music in the hope to teach empathy and self-respect.
